Compliance teams deserve better work
We started Strise because we believed the smartest people in financial crime shouldn't spend their days copying data between tabs. A decade later, we're proving it.
Our story
Born in Oslo. Built for the hardest compliance problems in Europe.
Strise was founded in 2016 by Marit Rødevand and Patrick Skjennum in Oslo, Norway. The idea started with a frustration that anyone who's worked in compliance knows well: talented analysts buried in repetitive, manual work while actual risk slipped through the cracks.
The first three years were spent deep in R&D, building the knowledge graph and AI architecture that would become the backbone of the platform. In 2019, Strise went live with its first banking clients. The results were immediate. Reviews that took hours dropped to minutes. Backlogs that had been growing for years started to clear.
By 2023, 70% of Nordic tier-1 banks were running on Strise. That same year, the team raised a Series A led by Atomico (the firm behind Skype and Klarna), bringing total funding to over €12 million. The London office opened shortly after, bringing the platform to the UK and broader European market.
Today, Strise processes millions of entities, serves clients listed on the S&P 500, and has helped compliance teams reclaim thousands of hours they used to lose to routine work. But the mission hasn't changed: let people do the thinking, and let the platform do everything else.
